Parks and Park Forests

Parks and Park Forests

In the City of Raahe, there are approximately 1,000 hectares of parks and park forests in total, of which around 250 hectares consist of plantings and maintained lawn areas.

Raahe is a green and leafy coastal city. Over the decades, a diverse network of parks and park forests has been developed, complemented by the extensive use of street trees along roads. The seashore areas are generally open to everyone as public recreational spaces.

In recent years, central parks have undergone renovations, and many young plantings have been established, which will continue to grow and develop over time.

Park maintenance

The City of Raahe’s Maintenance and Construction Unit is responsible for the upkeep of parks. Parks are not maintained during the winter season. Any defects or issues can be reported by email to palaute.tekninentoimi [at] raahe.fi. Feedback can also be submitted via the electronic Contact Form by selecting Technical Services as the recipient.

Maintenance of park forests

The city maintains its park forests primarily through forestry work, taking recreational use into account. Requests related to tree felling or forest thinning can be most conveniently submitted via the online tree felling request form.
